Everyone wants to make a good impression when communicating with people from other countries.
It is especially important in Spanish speaking countries, people there tend to be more formal than we are in the United States and this formality is reflected in their language. For instance, Spanish has two words for “you.” “Usted” is used to address strangers, elders or people you have only recently met. “Tú” is the familiar form used to address others. The polite phrases on the following page and your effort to communicate in Spanish will take you a long way toward making a good impression.
Anyone with a working knowledge of Spanish will have no trouble making themselves understanding in Peru, but there are few interesting local variations. An expression you will hear everywhere and which is difficult to translate is "no mas". Siga no mas for example, means "harry up...(and get on the bus/move down the line.etc.", "Come no mas" means ..just eat it(It'll get cold/it's nicer tha it looks, etc.). You will soon get the hang of it.
